# MCPTube

> YouTube MCP server and REST API to search videos, read transcripts and organize topics with your assistant or code. Create a free MCPTube account to start.

MCPTube is a YouTube MCP (Model Context Protocol) server by Dunamis Tech. It provides five tools for AI assistants, with the same account for MCP and the REST API.

Free includes 5 transcriptions a day.

search_videos, get_video_info and get_video_comments, including POST /v1/search, POST /v1/info and POST /v1/comments, share metadataPerDay: Free 50, Starter 600 and Pro 5,000, resetting at midnight UTC. Each successful information lookup or search or comments page, even empty, uses 1 metadata unit; failures, blocked requests and comments_disabled (403, comments disabled) are not charged. They do not use the transcription quota. The limit of 10 calls per minute is shared with get_usage, which uses no daily quota. Above the limits: rate_limited or metadata_daily_limit, HTTP 429 with Retry-After.

## FAQ

- Does it work with my assistant? See the Connect section for Otherside, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code. Support depends on your client’s features and plan. For your own code, use the REST API.
- Do I need an account? Yes. Add https://mcp.mcptube.com/mcp to your assistant and sign in when it opens the MCPTube login. You can create a free account with Google, GitHub or email.
- Do I need an API key? Not if you use an MCP client: it signs in to your account through the MCPTube login (OAuth) and keeps the access for you. mct_ keys are for scripts, automations and CI: create one in the dashboard and send it in the Authorization header.
- How can I pay? With a card, Link, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe, monthly or yearly. The subscription renews automatically and you can cancel anytime from the billing portal.
- Can I cancel anytime? Yes. In the dashboard, under Plan, open the Stripe billing portal and cancel. You stay on your paid plan until the end of the period you paid for, then move back to Free. Your keys keep working.
